The following was faxed to the Whitehouse by a veteran. Given he is a Vietnam veteran, seems to make his point all the more credible. We have already seen what appears to be changes to military efforts that seem to be driven by current politics. Allowing the terrorists that were surrounded in a town and almost beaten to be able to regroup and escape comes to mind. Read his letter and decide for yourself. You might consider mailing your opinion to The Whitehouse.

Politics Endanger Our Troops
White House Fax: 202-456-2461
Mr. President:
With the 1 July hand over date to Iraq, we are receiving front-line reports that our troops are not allowed to conduct outgoing fire-missions to answer incoming mortar and rocket attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq.
These constrants endanger our troops. Once again, just like in Vietnam, political considerations are dictating our military mission.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! Either our troops should have the right to defend themselves, or bring them home!
Respectfully,
Roger Young - Vietnam veteran
